OneDrive Quick Start Guide
What is OneDrive?
OneDrive is part of the Microsoft 365 suite and offers users secure cloud storage, allowing access to files from any device connected to the Internet. It integrates seamlessly with Windows and Mac, making it easy to back up and sync your documents, photos, and other files.
Getting Started with OneDrive on Windows
1. Install OneDrive
OneDrive should be pre-installed on all PCC Windows computers. If it is not, please open a ticket with the ITS Help Desk by emailing helpdesk@pasadena.edu.
2. Set Up OneDrive
Steps:
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Click on the Start menu and type OneDrive
- Select the OneDrive app from the returned search results
- Sign in with your PCC Microsoft account (PCC email address and LancerPoint password). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
3. Sync Your Files
OneDrive allows you to choose which files and folders will be synced
Steps:
- Open OneDrive settings by right clicking the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray (bottom right corner near the time) and selecting the Settings gear.

- Under the Account tab, click Choose folders.
- Select the folders you want to sync and click OK.
Getting Started with OneDrive on Mac
1. Install OneDrive
OneDrive should be pre-installed on all PCC Mac computers. If it is not, please follow the steps below.
Steps:
- Open the PCC App Store in the Applications folder.
- Search for OneDrive and click Install to download and install.
2. Set Up OneDrive
Steps:
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Open Finder, select the Applications folder and double-click on OneDrive
- Sign in with your PCC Microsoft account (PCC email address and LancerPoint password). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
3. Sync Your Files
OneDrive allows you to choose which files and folders will be synced
Steps:
- Open OneDrive settings by clicking the OneDrive cloud icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on Help & Settings and select Preferences.
- Under the Account tab, click Choose Folders.
- Select the folders you want to sync and click OK.
Accessing OneDrive Files
On both Windows and Mac, you can access your OneDrive files from the File Explorer or Finder.
Windows:
- Open File Explorer.
- Click on the OneDrive cloud icon labeled “Name – pasadena.edu” in the navigation menu on the left.

Mac:
- Open Finder.
- Click on the OneDrive cloud icon in the left sidebar.
